On April 1, 2024, the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 came into effect, resulting in the creation of the Leeds County OPP Detachment Board.
The Leeds County OPP Detachment Board represents a collaborative effort between the Township of Athens, the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, Frontenac Islands, Front of Yonge Township, Rideau Lakes, the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands and the Village of Westport.
Board Composition
The Board includes seven (7) elected officials, one from each of the municipalities within the Leeds OPP Detachment, as well as 2 at-large community members and 2 provincial appointees.

Code of Conduct
Ontario Regulation 409/23 sets out the Code of Conduct for OPP Detachment Board Members under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
