Front of Yonge Township formed a Community Development Committee in 2010 to promote the area as a great place to live, work and visit. Meetings are held monthly. Since its formation, the committee has made a number of recommendations to Council, and has taken a lead role in a number of projects, including:
- First Impressions’ Community Exchange
- Branding and Marketing Plan
- Community Profile
- Business Assessment Survey, Gap Analysis
- New Business Information Guide
- Website redevelopment
- Economic Development Action Plan
Since the beginning of the 2022 – 2026 term of Council, the committee has taken a lead role in a number of projects and events, including:
- Organizing annual events throughout the year (Paddle Poker Run, AgriCulture, etc.)
- Preparing and distributing Seniors Activity Kits
- Organizing Seniors Paint Parties
- Development of a community survey to gauge preferred communications & activities from Township residents
- Supporting community partners, including Front of Yonge Elementary School’s “Happiness Project” and Thousand Islands Parkway Trail Advisory Committee’s “Winter Walking Challenge
